Master Zhou Xuan Yun (周玄云)

Master Zhou was raised on the most sacred mountain in China, Wudang Mountain, where he trained and later worked as an instructor of Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan), Kung Fu, and weaponry. Xuan Yun is also an ordained Daoist priest, trained in the ritual arts, chanting, divination, and qigong.

Dedicating his life to passing on the Wudang arts, Xuan Yun divides his time between the United States and China, offering classes and workshops on traditional Wudang martial arts, qigong, and Daoist philosophy.


Ellen Petersen

Ellen is the Co-Founder of the Nourishing Life Center in Marblehead, Massachusetts, a holistic center where she offers Qigong instruction, External Qi Healing, and Vibrational Sound Therapy.  Ellen began studying and practicing qigong in 1996. She is a formal student of Qigong Master Kenneth Cohen and is certified as a teacher in Qigong Master Robert Peng’s Elixir Light Qigong.  Ellen began training with Zhou Xuan Yun in Wudang Taiji in 2019. Ellen earned a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1985 and practiced law for over 20 years, retiring in 2005 to continue to pursue her love of Qigong and Taiji.


Sophia Chan, DO, DPT, MAOM, Lic. Ac. 

Sophia grew up in New York City and has a background in various martial arts, including Shotokan Karate, Contemporary Chinese Wushu, Capoeira, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jujitsu. She began training under Master Zhou in 2009, specializing in Wudang Kung Fu and Taiji.  She has over 13 years of experience training and instructing in the martial arts.

Sophia holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University and received her Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture.  She recently received her Doctor in Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England and is pursuing residency in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Visual and media specialist

Sylwia Karwowska

Sylwia is an audio-visual artist who lives between USA and Europe. She graduated from the Cinematography Department at the Film School in Łódź and Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She has worked for International companies including Procter&Gamble, Universal Music and European postproduction studios and creative agencies.

She began her studies with Zhou Xuan Yun during his workshops in Poland.  In DBA she is responsible for managing communication strategies and social media.

Rosie Tan Segil

Rosie has a broad range of experiences in project management, research and development, teaching, marketing, and promotions in areas of health, education, arts, and culture.
She earned her Web Design Certificate from Boston University, Boston, MA in 1999 and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Advertising at the College of the Holy Spirit in Manila, Philippines.
